How do I visit the Heritage Museum?
The Heritage Museum in Harchin Village is open daily and welcomes walk-in visitors. For group tours or guided visits, we recommend contacting us in advance so we can arrange a knowledgeable guide. The best time to visit is between May and October, when the Shandur Pass is fully accessible.
Is there an entrance fee for the museum?
The museum operates on a donation basis. There is no fixed entrance fee, but contributions of any amount help us maintain the collection and keep the museum open for future visitors.
How are donations used?
Donations fund four core areas: museum preservation and conservation, the Baba-e-Laspur Memorial Library, youth polo training programmes, and sustainable tourism development. We publish annual impact reports detailing exactly how funds are allocated.
Can I volunteer remotely?
Yes. Remote volunteers can help with translation, digital archiving, grant writing, social media management, and website development. Contact us with your skills and availability, and we will find the right fit.
When is the Shandur Polo Festival?
The Shandur Polo Festival is held annually in late June or early July at the Shandur Pass (3,700m elevation). Exact dates vary each year and are announced by the district administration. The Festival draws over 40,000 spectators and is the world’s highest polo ground.
Is the Foundation a registered nonprofit?
The Amir Ullah Khan Yaftali Foundation has been formally registered as a public limited company under Section 42 of the Companies Act (XIX), 2017 by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
